Mike Tyson’s dangerous fall questions safety of hoverboards

Hoverboards are the coolest gift for kids this holiday season, but evidence is stacking up against them as a high risk to users.

Following a disturbing video of Mike Tyson falling badly off his seven-year-old’s hoverboard and landing on his back, consumers have begun to question just how safe these coveted gifts.

The Guardian reported that Hoverboards – otherwise known as self-balancing scooters or “swegways” – are electric two-wheeled ride-on devices, which cost from about $200 to as much as $2,400.

Overcharging devices that do not comply may cause the battery to overheat, causing a fire, like what happened on Thursday at a Washington Mall where a hoverboard burst into flames
