Wellington-based Vocal FX brought the house down at an international barbershop competition in Nashville, Tennessee over the weekend

In the midst of their medley of funk hits – including ‘Uptown Funk’ and ‘I Got You (I Feel Good)’ – the group broke ranks briefly to show off their rendition of the haka, which gained loud applause from the audience.

The group was ranked sixth in the world at the highly competitive event, according to Stuff, and a video of their performance has since gained thousands of views on YouTube.

In a Facebook post shared the day after their performance, Vocal FX said the competition had “truly been the trip of a lifetime”.

“We are all so humbled and appreciative of all your incredibly kind words and support for our competition and cultural set,” they wrote.
