Tributes pour in for 3-year-old girl crushed to death by war memorial during her grandmother’s 50th

The adorable little girl was killed in front of her family as the limestone slab collapsed on her.

Tributes have flooded in for toddler Indy Lee Henderson, who was crushed-to-death during a family gathering.

The 3-year-old was killed at the Black Head Bowling Club at Hallidays Point, NSW, while attending her grandmother’s 50th birthday celebrations.

A stone war memorial fell on the little girl while she was playing. Her parents and siblings were present when the limestone slab collapsed on her.

Grandmother Shiralee Walker, who was celebrating her 50th birthday, said the sight of Indy’s body caused her to collapse.

She told Adelaide Now: “Four people lifted it off my granddaughter, my daughter pulled her out of the monument and passed her to me, she was unconscious. We were both very hysterical, I went into a major panic attack and collapsed. She’s devastated and shattered by what’s occurred.”

The little girl was given CPR but she died of head injuries.

Police said Indy was standing behind the memorial while another girl sat on top, before it fell over.

An online fundraising group has already raised more than $6000 to ease the financial burden with friends and strangers paying tribute to the beautiful little girl.

Her grandmother told the Daily Telegraph Indy “lit up a room”.

“She was an absolutely large personality, bubbly, happy, strong-willed, cheeky and independent,” she said.

Tributes to the toddler at the scene.

Neighbour Julee Krapljanov described her to Fairfax Media as a “gorgeous girl”.
