Eagles founding member Glenn Frey has died, aged 67, of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia, the band has said.
“Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community and millions of fans worldwide,” their statement reads.
Frey co-wrote and sang the lead vocals on many of the Eagles’ greatest hits, including “Take It Easy”, “Tequila Sunrise” and “Heartache Tonight”.
He was a band member when the Eagles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

Glenn Frey attends the 29th Annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony in 2014.
