It’s tempting to get carried away and spend a lot of money on a wedding dress, but would you ever consider spending close to half a million dollars on one?
Elina Bazhaeva did.
The 21-year-old daughter of a wealthy Russian businessman married entrepreneur Bek Ali Khan Mamakaev in Monaco last week in a designer wedding dress that cost 20 million roubles – or close to $440,000.
The stunning gown was made by Lebanese fashion designer Zuhair Murad, who can name the likes of Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, and Taylor Swift as fans.
The dress is a continuation of the couple’s fairytale story. They met in February this year and Mamakaev proposed to Bazhaeva just two months later.
The groom graduated from university in London and is fluent in six languages. He is the heir of Alikhan Mamakaev, the head of the Dorchester Finance group and Alima Cosmetics, and co-owns some of his father’s companies.
The ceremony followed many of the couple’s Chechen traditions. Weddings are traditionally paid for by the groom and attended by his family members only.
