Woman uses 20 boyfriends to buy her first house

Shameless or utterly brilliant?

For most young people – buying a house is a dream that at times can seem unattainable.

With soaring house prices, student debt and job insecurity to factor in, 20 something homeowners are becoming more and more of a rarity, as youngsters are forced to rent their properties.

But one woman in China had an ingenious solution to this predicament.

Xiaoli, from Shenzen in China, managed to raise $28,000 (115 Chinese Yuan) after getting all 20 of her boyfriends to buy her an iPhone 7.

She sold these iPhones to a phone recycling site online, before putting down a deposit for a house in the country.

The BBC verified the story, which seems to have been posted by blog forum user ‘Proud Qiaoba.’

According to Proud, who is a colleague of Xiaoli’s, the woman was not from a wealthy family and was worried about her ageing parents.

“She might be under a lot of pressure hoping to buy them a house,” she explained to the news outlet.

The story has been widely shared on Chinese social network Weibo, under the hashtag “20 mobiles for a house.”

And while many social media users have criticised the woman for being “shameless,” another commended her for her ingenuity.

“I can’t even find one boyfriend,” the social media user wrote. “She can actually find 20 boyfriends at the same time and even get them to buy her an iPhone 7. Just want to ask her to teach me such skills.”
