Trevor Jefferson had better brush up on his dance skills.

The young man from Wilmington, North Carolina, has been snapped up as a prom date, with his invitation going viral on social media.

Trevor works at Beau’s Coffee, a business that provides work opportunities for area residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He was busy wiping down counters when Lillie Wright, the daughter of store founder Amy Wright, made him an offer he couldn’t – and wouldn’t – refuse.

The plucky teen surprised her “best buddy” with a poem, written on a giant card.

“I like coffee, I like tea. Will you go to prom with me?” Trevor read aloud, before replying with an enthusiastic “yes” and a hug for his new prom date, who he has known for years, according to local website, Star News Online.

“She’s a special young lady,” Lilli’s mum said of her daughter. “She has a younger brother and sister with Down syndrome, and she just accepts people for who they are. I’m just so proud of her.”

The video of the sweet proposal has has been watched more than 350,000 times on Facebook.
