First wedding dance New Zealand

The first dance songs most loved by Kiwis have been revealed, thanks to data from Spotify.

The music streaming giant analysed trends from across the globe, to find what songs are most commonly played on wedding dance floors both nationally and internationally.

And how did Kiwis fare?

It turns out New Zealand’s tastes were pretty similar to the rest of the world when it came to favourite first dance tunes – with Ed Sheeran and Etta James grabbing the top spots in the NZ and world rankings.

However, it turns out Kiwis much prefer to hear Ellie Goulding during their first sashay as husband and wife, than they do Adele (though she still just slips into the top ten.)

Here’s the Kiwi top ten in full:

  1. Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud

  2. Etta James – At Last

  3. John Legend – All of Me

  4. Eric Clapton – Wonderful Tonight

  5. Jack Johnson – Better Together

  6. Christina Perri – A Thousand Years

  7. Ray LaMontagne – You Are the Best Thing

  8. Ellie Goulding – How Long Will I Love You – Bonus Track

  9. Jason Mraz – I Won’t Give Up

  10. Adele – Make You Feel My Love
