My first kiss: reddit users share their stories

Was your first kiss anything like these?

We all remember our first kiss. For some of us it’s a sweet recall – butterflies, rainbows, unicorns and fireworks. For others it’s memorable for all the wrong reasons – sloppy, uncoordinated or just plain awkward.

When [babycake96] asked the question ‘What was your first kiss like?’ on askreddit, the responses flooded in, and some were a little surprising:

“Tasted like cod from the fish and ship shop,” declared Djdanny90999.

“Terrible, she cried and to this day I still don’t know why!” commiserated Irishbread.

And xBless said they couldn’t remember what it was like because they were drunk at the time.

There were accounts that sounded almost too Disney to be true:

“Magic. It was like a Disney kiss. The whole world seemed to swirl, and melt away, and it was just me and him, and our lips…” swooned BillieRebenCamGirl.

You can appreciate the honesty from these realists:

“Awkward. She kept her mouth closed and I opened mine too wide and tried to eat her face. We learnt pretty quickly though,” reported gadzina.

“Suffocated. Had the vacuum on high,” stated Weep2D2.

A few redditers reported the experience being too wet or too cold and one said it was gross.

The tale from minjjangxx gives you warm fuzzies:

“Simple but magical. We were sitting by the water at SM by the Bay (at the Mall of Asia, Philippines), and though there were tons of people there that Saturday night, it literally felt like it was just the two of us.”

And this account is adorable:

“Flash back to fifth grade, I had my girlfriend and it was the last day of school. We both decided we wanted to have our first kiss in the library. We meet after class, right by the water fountain, and gave each other a small peck on the lips. It’s probably one of the cutest memories I have,” revealed JoPrau96.

One reddit user, who goes under the questionable moniker of Suck-A-Turd (stay with us), revealed he is marrying the recipient of his first kiss:

She was my best-friend for 5 years before we ever dated… But something changed for reasons we still don’t understand. We fell in love… It was the most magical thing I’ve ever experienced. As bad as it was, we loved it so much and will never forget it. We get married next year.”

But it was this anecdote from MTennant89, which perhaps sums up the universal experience of many, with its relatable mix of a-little-bit-bad but also a-little-bit-good:

“13 years old, down a back street known as “dog shit alley” with her sister, her friend and my best mate looking on. Teeth clashing and far to much tongue, but still enjoyed it. Walked home feeling like I’d become a man.”
