Waikato dairy farmer Marcella Bakker has decided to ditch her social media search for the right rural guy, and instead will take a chance at finding love on reality television.
The 24-year-old dairy farmer is currently in the final stages of casting for the upcoming season of The Bachelor NZ, and is doing “relatively well”, NZME reports.
In September, Marcella shared a modelling shot of herself to Farming NZ’s Facebook page with a post declaring she was single and looking for love.
While the young farmer said she was wowed with the response – including more than 250,000 views and 500 offers – she said she hadn’t yet found the right match.
“It hasn’t been successful… I haven’t actually found anyone. I had plenty of response but probably not what I was looking for.”
Despite plenty of interest from farmers everywhere, Marcella said a lot of the responses had come from men who were divorced or had children and neither were right for her.
She also revealed some men from the farming world needed to improve their manners and upskill.
“Maybe I am too fussy but you’re allowed to be if it’s for a long term partner. I think you should be fussy, you shouldn’t just settle for anything.”
Listing the qualities her ideal man should possess on her post to NZ Farmer, Marcella stated her potential partner needed to be a nice farming guy.
A “kind man” that has “respect for himself and women”.
