Perfect for a DIY wedding, this bouquet can be made well in advance and provides a memorable accent for any occasion. It’s also a great way of keeping a dose of spring in your home all year.
Materials:
• Twelve 23cm x 30.5cm sheets of wool felt (1 per rose) in orange, gold, tangerine, mustard, magenta, rose, or in colours of your choice
• Two to three 23cm x 30.5cm sheets of wool felt in moss green, for the leaves
• Twelve 38cm green florist wood stakes
• One hand-tied bouquet holder
• Spool of 4cm-wide ribbon, preferably grosgrain, in a co-ordinating colour
• One faux pearl-head pin

• Disappearing fabric marker
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun
• Deckle-edge scissors (optional)
• Pliers
1 Using your ruler and marker, divide the sheets of felt for the roses into long strips, of widths between 5cm and 7.5cm. Cut out.
2 From the strips, cut half-moon shapes for the rose petals, ranging in size from small to large. You’ll want 5-10 each small, medium and large.
Note: you may not use every petal.
3 Take a small petal, dab a dot of hot glue on the base and roll it tightly together to form a bud. Continue dabbing glue onto petals and attaching around the first bud, moving from small to large petals as you work outward, until you have the size of rose you want.
4 Trace and cut out 3-5 leaves for each rose, using deckle-edge scissors, if desired, for a toothed effect.
5 Hot glue a wooden stake to the bottom of your rose to create a stem. Hold the stake in place until the glue is completely dry. Glue felt leaves around the base of the rose to cover the glued bottom.
Repeat steps 2-5 until you have 12 roses, varying the sizes slightly.
6 Cut the wooden stakes in half with the pliers, reserving the ends. Starting at the centre, add one rose at a time to the bouquet holder. Glue stems in place in the foam of the holder as you go. When all are in place, glue on more leaves to cover stems, foam and excess glue.
7 Put a dab of glue on the top of one side of the holder and start wrapping your ribbon around, slightly overlapping it as you work downward. When the holder is completely wrapped, fold the end of the ribbon under and secure with the faux pearl-head pin.
8 Tuck reserved stake ends into the base of the bouquet holder, and glue to secure.
