Homemade recipe: Tooth paste

I haven’t used toothpaste for years, and find this powder leaves my teeth and mouth fresher and cleaner. It uses stevia, which is a plant much like mint, but the leaves are very sweet. It is available in health shops and some supermarkets.

A report from the Hiroshima University School of Dentistry showed it can help fight dental disease. Baking soda has long been known to neutralise plaque acids and eliminate bacteria, because of its highly alkaline properties.

Tooth Powder

  • 2 tbsp baking soda

  • ¼ tsp stevia powder

  • 3 drops spearmint, peppermint or lemon oil

1 Place all ingredients into a jar and shake vigorously to disperse. Wet your toothbrush and dip it in the jar, then clean as usual.
