We all have to deal with rats at some time.
I’ve always hated putting out poison for them because their slow death from thirst is not a nice thing to witness.
I was in Rotorua recently, where they’re using a new rat killer throughout the forest. Rats are a significant contributor to the death of native birds.
If everyone in New Zealand had one of these, imagine how may birds we could save? Made by goodnature.co.nz, these traps are humane and non-toxic.
They use peanut butter-based lures and compressed CO2 to activate a piston which hits the rat in the skull at force, killing it immediately. The rat drops out and it resets for the next one.
If possums are a problem, they make traps for them too.
