The hustle and bustle of the working week can get to all of us, so we need a place of calm to retreat to. Keep the décor light and fresh to create a real home away from home.
I love heading to the batch for the weekend, and being able to create a completely different environment to what you have in your everyday life. It’s always nice to introduce a rustic feel – a sense of relaxed, low-key living – to your space by using knick-knacks that you would never have lying about at home.
I like the whole sun, surf and sand idea – keep the beach theme by incorporating plenty of red and blue, with a hint of nautical stripes. Bring in a bit of the outside world with natural items collected on your holiday. There’s nothing quite like a walk on the sand, picking up the odd bits and pieces, such as shells, driftwood and funky stones, and using them to bring texture to your batch décor. You could even paint the driftwood to create a piece of DIY artwork. Having a pin board is always a great way of collecting those wonderful memories with photos, postcards and personal items, such as kiddie’s art.
