Professor Philippa Howden-Chapman has been named NEXT Woman of the Year 2018 for her long-standing crusade for healthy, warm and dry homes in New Zealand.

Housing and unhealthy living conditions have been under the microscope, and the Professor of Public Health at the University of Otago, Wellington has been the powerhouse behind it all.

In this video we ask her about a time in her career where she faced barriers – and learned that she once found herself in the same situation that PM Jacinda Ardern did after she became Prime Minister – pregnant and about to take on the job of her life.

We also ask her whether she ever felt that being a woman stood in the way of her getting ahead.
