Clever life hacks for around your home

I absolutely love life hacks – little ways to make your life that tiny bit easier. Here are a few of my favourites:

If you have a gunk build-up inside your shower head, fill a plastic bag with vinegar and tie it around the head. Leave it to sit overnight and you will wake up to a clean and steady flow.

Paint a coat of clear nail polish onto your buttons to keep the thread from unravelling

This trick will make your products look more professional. I pop what I’m selling in a white bathtub (empty, of course). It will give your photo a sleek and sophisticated backdrop.

Those silica gel packs that seem to come with nearly every product that you buy these days are really handy! Here are a few ways I use them:

Pop a couple in your gym bag to keep it from smelling.

Put some in your toolbox. It will stop your metal tools from oxidising and prevent rusting.

They can keep your linen closet dry, which is very handy in the damp, rainy months.

Carry them in your suitcase when you go on holiday. Then if you do break out the swimsuit but don’t have time to dry it out before your next move, you can pack it in without worrying about that damp smell getting all through your luggage.

If you save seeds and want to keep them dry, pop a silica bag in with them when you store them in an airtight container.
