How to make homemade play dough

Little ones will have hours of fun with this activity

By Wendyl Nissen
We’re still not clear of the bad weather yet, so I thought I would share my tried and true play dough recipe for those of you with kids stuck inside on a rainy day. I’ve used this recipe for years and our grandchildren just love playing with it. It’s really economical to make, which is another huge bonus.
- 1 cup flour
- ½ cup salt
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 cup water
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 5-10 drops of food colouring depending on the colour intensity you want
Mix all the ingredients together in a saucepan and heat until it forms a dough. Allow to cool, then let the little ones get into it when it is still warm. Store in the fridge.
