How long does make up last?

Some of my make-up is 2 to 3 years old and I’m wondering if it is still okay to use? It seems wasteful throwing out these expensive things but a friend told me that can grow bacteria. Is this true?

While it helps to store all make-up in a cool place, some items should definitely not be kept too long. oascara goes off between 4 to 6 months. You’ll notice it getting gluggy and because it’s used so close to the eye, you should discard it at this stage.

Eye cream and eye liner should also be used before 6 months is up. With other products, it is safe to make judgements based on the look, feel and smell.

Lipsticks can last for a couple of years, while cleanser probably won’t appear the same after 12 months use.
