In Week One we introduced Sinead and Rhys, and this week we are checking in with Sinead on how her new diet and excersise regime is going, two months in.

I  feel like in the first month I lost loads of weight and I was like ‘Sweet! I love this life’.

Within two weeks I’d lost 3kg, but this month I think I’ve only lost 1kg in total. Maybe it’s just all muscle?

Although I’m not totally sticking to the eating plan anymore so I guess that’s probably why. I am still sticking to the principles though: I don’t really eat carbs or sugar unless it’s a treat and most of the time I’m just having things like chicken and salad, but during the weekends I really struggle.

I feel like most of my life revolves around meals. I meet up with people for brunch or for lunch, and of course if I’m going to spend money on a meal, I want it to be something delicious. It’s not like I’m ordering pancakes and hashbrowns but anything at a café is going to be more fattening unless you just get the poached eggs every time.

Feeling good

I’m definitely feeling better overall though.

Before I started all of this I thought I was fine. I thought I was healthy because I didn’t eat loads of junk, I didn’t drink that much and it’s not like I was grossly overweight. Thinking back now though, I wasn’t that great.

I was very tired and I was quite unfit. Now I sleep way better, I don’t feel tired throughout the day and I can walk up the stairs without feeling like I’m having a heart attack.

Also, I don’t eat fast food now so if I do have a bite of a burger it tastes super-rich – even a flat white tastes full on because I’m used to having black coffee.

Keeping it up

At the moment I’m exercising every day, just because I feel like it.

I’ll work out with coach Rhys two to three times a week and the rest of the time I go to Les Mills.

I either do a class or I run on the treadmill. I probably run once a week, but every time I add five minutes to my time.

I can run for about 20 minutes – I know that it isn’t that much but I’ve never run before so it’s heaps for me.

On Saturday I went to the gym with a friend, who is about three sizes smaller than me. We were both running on the treadmill and I was way fitter than her! That’s never happened to me before.

I have to say the progress photos are definitely good motivation. Even when this 12-week programme is finished, I know I’ll keep going – I’ll just have to remember that life is your ‘progress photo’. So lame! But true.
