Q. Is it safe to eat a cooked ham I’ve had sitting in the freezer for eight months? I bought it sealed and it was never opened.
A. It should be ‘”safe” to eat the ham (as long as it has been well-sealed and fully frozen – the fridge/freezer has not been turned off at any stage due to a power cut etc).
The only thing to remember is the ham may not be as flavoursome after this amount of time and may have lost some of its nutrient value. But it should be safe to eat if consumed soon after thawing and any leftovers are not kept for longer than a few days (following general food safety standards, of course – safely store the ham in the fridge, reheating only once and not leaving leftovers at room temperature for too long and then eating at a later date.
