Three things you can do to take care of your breasts

  1. Get to know your breasts. It doesn’t cost anything to look in the mirror regularly, says Belinda, and check for anything that might be different. “And if you do notice something, don’t take it lightly. Do something about it straight away.”

  2. Take advantage of the free mammograms available via BreastScreen Aoteroa for women aged 45 to 69. “oammograms are not infallible but they do pick up a lot of cancers that wouldn’t have been spotted until later on. It’s something all women can do for their health and it doesn’t cost anything.”

  3. Nurture your relationships. “Studies show that the support you get when you have breast cancer plays a major part in the outcome,” says Belinda. “It’s more important than diet or exercise. So hang on to your family and friends.
