Health – Skin cancer

While everyone should be doing their best to prevent skin cancer, men often need reminding to be sun smart. A study  by the Sun Protection Advisory Council found men tend to spend more time in the sun than women, but are less likely to use sunscreen. In 2009, melanoma was the leading cancer in Kiwi men, aged 25 to 44.

Ways to avoid it:

• Stay out of the sun during the peak hours of 10am to 4pm.

• Wear sunscreen every day. Even 15 mins of sun exposure can be enough for your skin to suffer damage.
