Crystal meanings

The healing powers of crystals has been a belief of many different cultures across the world.

Everyone from Hawaiian islanders, Native Americans to the Chinese have held the belief that certain crystals have power over our energies and health.

And while it should be noted there is no scientific evidence this is the case, crystal healing is followed and practiced by many.

Crystals found in New Zealand

While New Zealand lacks naturally occurring gems such as diamonds, emeralds and sapphires, we have some pretty incredible crystals on offer. From New Zealand jade to quartz, garnet, obsidian, to goodletite – all of these are found native to our land.

How to use crystals

There are many different ways that crystals are recommended for use. Some people choose to wear them on their body for protection, in the form of a necklace or other piece of jewellery. Others keep them in their home or place of work – that make for a beautiful decoration too. While some actually believe in the placing of crystals on the body for healing. Another way of getting their benefits is to hold them while meditating, or place them in front of you as you do so.

Crystals for depression

While many crystals are meant to help improve mood and rebalance energies, if you’re feeling depressed and struggling to cope you should always seek the advice of a medical professional. See your GP or give Lifeline a call any time of day or night on: 0800 543 354.
