It may not be on their Christmas wish list, but this year many women will find they get something unexpected – pregnant.
A British survey has found that as many as half of all women of child-bearing age put themselves at risk of having an unplanned pregnancy over the festive season.
The study found that 51% of people questioned either forgot to take the contraceptive pill, ended up having to take the morning-after pill, or found they were expecting a baby.
One in six women admitted they had forgotten to take the pill over the Christmas period because they were too drunk.
Others struggled to get a repeat subscription over the holidays.
