A lot of people enjoy a cup of peppermint tea because it is great for relieving gas pains, nausea, vomiting and other intestinal problems.
It is also wonderful when you have a cold, flu, fever or a headache.
Growing your own peppermint means you always have a fresh cup at the ready, and you get the best of the healing oils by making it fresh rather than using the dried herb.
Peppermint is different to the common garden mint we use in meals with our peas and potatoes, but it is just as easy to grow.
If you know someone with a plant, it will grow easily from a cutting, otherwise buy a plant from the herbs section of your garden centre and plant in full sun and a rich soil.
In warmer weather, water frequently.
As I said, the tea tastes best made from a bunch of fresh leaves, but you can also dry them by harvesting and then hanging in a dark, cool place – such as a cupboard.
