Green Goddess: Natural shampoo

Many people avoid commercial shampoos because of ingredients such as sodium 
laurel sulfate, fragrances and phthalates. It is possible to 
wash your hair with baking 
soda.

laurel sulfate, fragrances and phthalates.

It is possible to 
wash your hair with baking 
soda. Many of my newsletter 
followers swear by this method:

Pour about ¼ cup of baking soda (I have 
long hair so you could use less). Mix with 
a bit of water to form a paste. Take this 
into the shower with you and put through damp hair as you would a shampoo – except it doesn’t foam. Rinse well then tip 
over a cup of water, to which you have added 
2 tablespoons of cider vinegar (or malt vinegar will do) as a final rinse. Do not rinse out.
