The occasional cigarette. Tests on 84 volunteers have revealed smoking at the weekend damaged short-term memory as much as smoking regularly. The toxins from cigarettes affect the connections between nerve cells, say the team from Northumbria University.
Switch it:
Swap your facial scrubs for gentle cleansers. If you have adult acne – which affects mainly women in their 30s to 50s – avoid products that have a gritty texture.
Skin dries out with age, and scrubs irritate it, making the condition even worse, according to U.S. doctors.
