Don’t be fooled by…. Yoghurt coated peanuts

In this form, 'yoghurt' is a sugar and fat-rich concoction, bearing no relation to the calcium-rich, low-fat dairy food we're all familiar with.

You might think this popular health store snack is better for you than its chocolate-coated counterpart, but you’d be wrong. In this form, ‘yoghurt’ is a sugar and fat-rich concoction, bearing no relation to the calcium-rich, low-fat dairy food we’re all familiar with.

In fact, one handful (30g) of yoghurt-coated peanuts delivers the same amount of sugar (around two teaspoons) as a handful of milk chocolate coated nuts and has 1.7g more (5.5g versus 3.8g) artery-clogging saturated fat.

GET IT RIGHT: Stick with the chocolate-coated nuts, which do at least have a smidgen of cocoa antioxidants. A handful of plain nuts and raisins would be a healthier sweet treat, though.
