How to wear summer separates

Packing to go on holiday isn't as easy as it sounds. While you don't want to travel with a suitcase full of clothes you won't wear, you never know what your trip might bring so you need to make sure you have all your bases covered. To simplify packing this summer, I've put together a simple check list made up of just 10 clothing items, three pairs of shoes and a few multi-tasking accessories. Now all you need to do is relax and enjoy your holiday in style.
  • Look for a big, soft canvas bag that you can use instead of a suitcase. When you get to your destination it’ll be perfect to take shopping and to the beach

  • Pair a simple swimsuit with a long-line kaftan, a sarong, or a shirt and denim shorts. Be sun smart – add a hat and a pair of sunglasses.

  • Classic black and white T-shirts are a must when you’re on holiday. If the weather’s warm you can wear one on its own; if not, add a shirt or a cardigan. If you’re feeling adventurous, twist up your kaftan to make a cowl-neck top to wear over it.

  • Accessories don’t take up much space in your travel bag, but adding them to your outfits after dark can transform casual clothing into smart ensembles that work at barbecues and for dinner or drinks with friends. Slipping on a pair of wedge heels is another simple way to bring a little evening drama to a daytime look.

  • For cooler evenings, a classic black T-shirt and black leggings make a great base for a range of outfits. Simply layer colourful pieces over the top. A pair of wedge heels will give your legs a sexy long line, and chunky accessories are a stylish finishing touch.
