Pastels often look the best in summer, in feminine pieces and flirty fabrics
- For this seasons shades, think fruit – strawberry, melon, lemon, and blueberry are all versatile colours to try.
- The key is balance – pastels head to toe look overwhelmingly sweet. Pair a pastel top with a tougher bottom like the new loose, floaty style khaki pant or short. Similarly a pastel short or mini-skirt looks great with washed out grey utility jacket or t-shirt.
- When wearing subtle gelato tones, be sure to stay away from dark coloured shoes as it will kill the overall look. For casual outfits a simple white pair of tennis sneakers will usually do the trick. For evenings, if you’re not into coloured shoes, try a nude pair of pumps.
- For those just starting out, use pastel accessories to add a ‘pop’ of colour to your outfit. A black maxi dress looks great with a slim pastel belt, or bright sorbet nails.
TIP: Being sun smart can also look glamorous. Take a tip from the style icons of the past in a wide-brimmed hat to finish off your look
