As we all know, Kiwi women have a love of black clothing – and who could blame us? Black garments have so much going for them. They’re functional, they go with everything, they’re easy to look after and they’re timeless and slimming.
I think most of us would admit that when you come across a fabulous dress on the rack in a bold colour, the question springs to mind, “I wonder if that comes in black?”
- I get far more wear out of black items and I can match it with more things. It’s also the perfect blank canvas to accessorise – pile them up to give your garments a lift. Nude and tan shoes and bags are perfect paired with black, and every girl must have one little black dress. This wonder garment can take you from work to a night on the town by simply swapping jackets, shoes, bags and accessories.
Give black a lift by wearing it with a nautical stripe. oany women are worried about wearing horizontal stripes in case it makes them appear wider, but if you put a black garment over the top, this will lengthen the look.
Get some Pretty Polly open-toe tights. You may not be able to see them, but they are there and they make a huge difference to the appearance of your legs, giving an invisible foundation finish.
A-line dresses are very flattering on pear-shaped figures.
