Find the perfect pair of trousers for your shape

Black pants are a staple item and they're versatile enough to wear in almost any situation. When you get them right you can keep them for years, but sometimes it's difficult to get the right cut for your body. We've found the perfect pants for every shape.

Wide-leg trousers

These trousers are great for fuller figures. They sit above the hips, so are a good option for avoiding a “muffin top”. The front pockets may add width to wider hips but this can be amended with heels and a tucked-in top. Make sure you wear them at the right length – the hem should be about a centimetre from the ground.

Peg-leg trousers

These trousers are bang on trend and are great for top-heavy figures. The fabric is 50% silk and 50% linen so is very soft and breathes well. Those of us with shorter legs may need to roll the cuffs up a little as the look du jour is to expose the ankle. This style looks great with both heels and flats – definitely the pick of the bunch for fashionistas.

Straight-leg trousers

Great for shorter torsos, these trousers are very simple with a hidden side zip and no pockets. Because of their simplicity, they’re very flattering. The straight lines lengthen the body – especially when worn with heels – so they suit petite people well.

Bootleg trousers

Flattering for pear shapes and curvy figures, these trousers are a good option for the office. The front has button detailing to refine your look, while the back has very simple pockets so will not draw extra attention to your bottom. When worn with heels, they create extra length for shorter people, while the boot cut also balances proportions for curvy ladies.
