Dos and don

Do plan your look ahead. It makes no difference if you are purchasing an entirely new outfit or wearing an old favourite, taking the time to think through every piece you will be wearing avoids unnecessary stress on the day. You may even want to have a try-on session of every single piece you plan to wear prior to the event.  There is nothing worse than having to settle for the wrong colour hosiery or finding your underwear is unsightly or visible!

Don’t go overboard! You may have a great dress, hot heels, a stand-out necklace, pretty bracelets, a statement coat and a sparkly pair of earrings but that doesn’t mean you need to wear them all at once! Remember you are meant to wear the clothes, they are not meant to wear you!

Do focus on accessories. A seeming dull dress or outfit can be bought to life and made original with carefully chosen accessories. Think Audrey Hepburn in the black dress simply with pearls!

oatching sets are classic and safe, but don’t be afraid to try a clash, a mix of colours and textures can be very complimentary.

Don’t forget about your bag! A bag grabbed in the last moment can ruin a perfectly put together look. Your bag should be small and neat enough to be tucked under an arm or hang weightlessly from an elbow, but large enough to fit your evening essentials.

Do choose comfortable shoes. Those gorgeous heels may have you feeling like a supermodel but you certainly won’t look like one if the pain they cause have you stooped and limping!
