Christmas gift shopping can be tricky. We all want to get something perfect for our loved ones, but often it’s easier said than done. My poor husband Gaz is terrified of getting me gifts, but I always appreciate the thought.
Here are some of his gift buying tips for the fashionista in your life:
- Always pay attention when the fashionista takes a special interest in an item. For the first Christmas Gaz and I had together, he gave me some earrings I had fallen in love with six months prior.
- If you want to purchase clothing, take a garment that your fashionista wears regularly with you to the store for sizing. Just return it before she notices!
- Ask the best friend. Fashionistas love to talk about gorgeous things they would love.
- Let the fashionista choose. Ask for a list of items they would love, so you can pick and it’ll be a surprise. This year I’ve asked for a Thomas Sarbo watch.
Columnist wish list
1. Kerre Woodham: “I would love a new diamond ring from Angela Daniel Jewellery, as I gifted mine to my gorgeous daughter Kate as her engagement ring. I miss having a rock on my finger and I love the vintage feel of Angela Daniel’s diamond rings.”
- Louise Richardson: “I love the two-tone ring ooments ring from Pandora because I can mix it up with other gold or silver rings and it will still look lovely. I’ve had a difficult year and I’m in need of a pretty treat!”
- Peta Mathias: “I would like a oarni dress from Scotties because oarni is made for real women. These clothes have a loose, round-cornered look in unusual painted prints and gorgeous colours. They are eclectic, rather than conventional, and for women who wish to be stylish and comfortable.”
- Wendyl Nissen: “I have always loved New Zealand designer Ingrid Starnes’ gorgeous dresses, which are made from the softest, most delicate fabrics and fall so beautifully. I really would like to unwrap the blue Cornelia dress because, like all Ingrid’s work, it has a vintage feel which takes me straight to Downton Abbey on the lawn for Christmas lunch!”
- April Ieremia: “I would want to unwrap something that I normally wouldn’t buy for myself because I can’t afford it – or couldn’t justify spending that kind of money. I would like a new Louis Vuitton handbag. Which one? The Damier Azur Canvas – Galliera Go.”
