What to eat for brighter eyes

Our eyes are the windows to the soul but if they’re bloodshot, glazed and tired, chances are your peepers will be the last thing people notice. Here we have a few healthy diet tricks for eyes that will leave your mind and spirit feeling nourished

Tired eyes are a common problem in air-conditioned offices in which we sit staring at a computer screen all day. And they’re especially prevalent in New Zealand, where the natural light is strong and glary. In these conditions it pays to invest in a pair of quality sunglasses for outdoors, and a few eye-saving tricks for indoors. It’s good practice to look away from your computer every few minutes and focus on something in the distance momentarily.

We all know carrots are great for healthy eyesight as they’re packed with Vitamin A and antioxidants. But Vitamins C, E and lutein (found in green, leafy vegetables) are just as important so choose foods high in these nutrients, such as spinach, broccoli, corn, strawberries, tomatoes and nuts.
