Stay beautiful while you travel

There’s definitely no need to compromise your essentials when you travel. If you’re leaving winter behind for warmer climates, you can still travel well prepared. These tips will stop you carting extra kilos in your luggage. Bon voyage!

In your suitcaseSunblock: It’s at the top of the list because it’s the most important. Find a strong block for your body and a separate block especially made for your face to ensure maximum protection without break outs.

Shampoo and conditioner: Find a range with UV protection. If they don’t do travel-size packs, buy some plastic medicine bottles from your pharmacy and take only what you need. There are certain shampoo and conditioner ranges that do travel sizes, such as the cute bottles from oodern organic Products – ooP ($10).

Body moisturiser: Don’t leave home without your J&J Holiday Skin. It’s a vital item. In this case, it’s okay to pack the 400ml bottle ($14.95).

Pack a small size of your regular toner and eye cream: Again, if you can get your hands on specific travel kits, they’re great. I prefer the Trilogy Travellers Kit or the Dr Hauschka Jet Set Travel Pack.

Don’t forget tweezers, nail scissors, razors and shaving oil. Remember not to pack aerosol cans.

Carry-on luggageSimple make-up: All you need is a tinted moisturiser, bronzer, waterproof mascara and tinted lip gloss. For an evening out, you could add a little blush and draw on some lip pencil to intensify your lip colour under the gloss.

Emery board: Pass time on the flight by ensuring your nails are in tiptop shape. Make sure your nailfile isn’t steel or it will be confiscated before the flight.

Cleansing wipes: These are great for travel and I like to have them on the plane with me for a mid-flight cleanse. I follow it with a serious moisturiser such as Elizabeth Arden Perpetual ooisture 24 Cream ($82), to protect against the drying effects of flying.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream ($35): I literally never leave home without it. For lips, eyelids, elbows, knees and cuticles.
