Spring hair trends

Wayne Richardson of Ktizo Hair & Spa in Hamilton tells us what’s hot and what’s not this season.
Kim Kardashian has celeb hair that women want
  • Fringes are still going to feature heavily this coming season. There is a 1960s rockabilly influence with deconstruction and a modern choppy texture is the key. Two looks coming through are the rock crop and the mod bob.

  • If your locks are straight, ensure you boost your roots. You want body, not deflated hair like you get from a straightening iron.

  • Hair looks that are completely over are stripy highlights and Jennifer Aniston-style wispy shaping around the face.

  • The most wearable catwalk look I’ve seen was at the L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival. It consisted of a perfectly dressed, highly polished, side parted pony tail. This look is sleek and very shiny with not a hair out of place – almost military-like.

  • The celeb hair women want is: Rihanna’s for her fashion forward cuts, Kim Kardashian’s for her glossy, long, layered locks and beautiful blow waves, and Emma Stone’s for classic elegance and femininity with stunning copper and auburn tones.

  • This season’s colour palate is vibrant and contrasting. My favourites are soft pastel tones of peach, pink and violet. These colours are beautiful and edgy – perfect for those wanting something more daring. Blonde is always popular in summer, and techniques such as balayage are big this season. We’ll also see lighter copper bases and auburn tones.

**If it’s time for something different, first stand in front of a mirror and pull your hair back until it’s sitting at the length you’re considering cutting it to, and see how it looks on you. Look out for people with great hair and ask them which stylist they go to. Be prepared to spend the time to style your new look. Make sure your stylist explains step by step how to style your hair and what tools and products you will need to make your new look a success.
