What you need:
You’ll need three tones of the same colour – light, medium and dark. Go for a powder shadow as they’re easiest to blend. Creams are great for dry eyelids but some formulas tend to crease easily.
How to apply:
1. Sweep the light shade over the lid, blending to the brow bone and extending to the edge of the eye.
2. Dust the medium shade on the lid only. For definition, apply the darker shade to the outer corner of the eye.
3. Finish by wetting the brush and lining the eyes close to the lash line with the darker shade or use an eyeliner or pencil. You can line just the upper lash line or the lower one as well for the true smoky-eyed look. Always make sure the top line is two to three times heavier than the bottom lash line – this will give your eyes a lift.
Make up artists tips
Apply your eyeshadow before the rest of your makeup. That way if any powder drops onto your cheeks, you can cleanse it away before starting on your foundation and blusher.
Don’t try to apply eyeshadow after using a rich eye cream. The oiliness will make the shadow go on unevenly.
Lining the inner eye (the bit above the lower lashline) with a creamy white pencil will open up your eyes. But don’t apply any powder here.
Goldeneye oetallics are still hot this season. The golden rule is that if your eyelids shimmer, then the rest of your face should look understated. So put a little natural blush on the cheeks, go with nude or pink glossy lips and let your eyes steal the limelight.
