This makeup trend is hot for the northern winter, but the combination of gold and indigo shades still works perfectly for a sun-kissed, summery look.

  • Gold makeup suits all sorts of skin tones and adds instant glamour. If you have pale to medium skin, go for soft golds and rose golds. Bronze golds will suit dark skin best.

  • For a sexy eyeshadow look, apply a base of pure gold over the whole eyelid, adding definition with some bronze, then using a line of indigo at the root of the lashes.

  • Gold lip gloss can be used alone for a nude look or applied over matte lipstick to give shine and sparkle – Aaron also uses it to define the eyebrows.

  • Indigo is a great summer alternative to grey or black for the classic smoky eye.

  • To go from day to night, I press a little gold shadow over my usual neutral brown – the oAC one works well for this. Mr you can brush on a little as a cheek highlighter.

  • Gold or teal eyeliner gives a more youthful look than classic black. To make eyes appear brighter, line the lower inner rim with metallic gold. Mr use a little gold on the inner corners of the eyes only.

  • After applying lipstick, dab a little gold gloss in the centre of your lips to make them appear fuller and sexier.

  • Not convinced about this season’s look? Just apply the sheerest gold wash to your eyes, trace the upper lashes with an indigo eyeliner, then apply mascara to the upper lashes only. Sexy – and subtle.

  • We all know the rule that as we mature we ought to take a less-is-more attitude to makeup. But the good news about shimmering gold is that it’s as flattering for the over-forties as it is for younger women.

  • Another rule is that bold eyes go best with nude lips. But, luckily, rules are made to be broken because golden indigo eyes look gorgeously glam paired with red lips.
