Aucklander Tracey Dalton (45) is TV3’s head of styling and make-up.
My beauty philosophy is… To cherish what you’ve got and to see the beauty in others, not just on the outside, but within as well.
The skincare products I can’t live without are… Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm. I use it morning and night, and am convinced it helps keep my wrinkles at bay. I can’t live without sunscreen and apply some sort of sun protection right through winter, as well as summer. My favourite is Dermalogica Solar Defence Booster. I find it great when I’m running, as it doesn’t irritate me when I sweat.
My haircare secret is… Condition, condition, condition. I colour my hair and style it daily with some sort of heat tool, so I need to look after it. I love the Wella SP Colour Save Emulsion. I also like to use Pantene products. I love their Beautiful Lengths cause, which encourages women to cut their hair to be made into wigs for cancer sufferers. Having lost my hair five years ago through chemo, this is close to my heart.
The must-have products in my makeup bag… Sunblock and mascara. Add to that Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference BB Cream – great for concealing or worn as a foundation, and Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Cream Blush. As you get older, less make-up is better, so those four products are really all I need. I finish with a splash of lip colour.
My favourite beauty treat is… Colouring my whitening roots. I’m also a sucker for a great massage. I love my kinesiologist, Gloria, at Balance For Life.
My biggest beauty sin is… Worrying too much. I once sprayed perfume on my décolletage and didn’t have sunscreen on. I got too much sun and have had sunspots in that area ever since – lesson learnt!
The best thing my mother taught me about beauty is… That I have a pretty face and no matter how I am feeling about the rest of myself, no-one else sees it, because they see my face. Thanks Mum.
