Good brows will help lift your features. When your brows extend beyond the outer corner of your eye, they start to drag down your face. With a fine line between fab and fail, we have decoded some of Hollywood’s best brows so you can brush up your brows!
Growing
Over-plucked in the ’90s? Didn’t we all! If you’re in need of a fuller set of brows, try using a growth serum that contains strengthening and stimulating proteins to encourage fullness.
Hannah Terrett, Benefit Brow Artist, also advises using a conditioning primer that contains soy keratin ingredients. “It will act as a base for pencil or powder and create the illusion of volume, as well as giving you an even finish,” she says. Take your routine one step further by applying a volumising product. They contain fibres designed to match your hairs to visibly thicken strands.

Shaping
To make sure your brows are right for your face shape, follow the “brow mapping” technique. Hannah suggests using a pen to line up the outside crease of your nostril and the inside corner of your eye – where your brow should start. “Then move the pen so it lines up directly through the centre of your pupil – this will be the highest point. Finally, swivel the pen to line up with the outside corner of your eye, where your brow should end.”
To define your shape, tweeze any strays below the bulk of the brow, then brush hairs upwards with a brow comb and trim any over-long strands.

Styling
Once your shape is sorted, it’s time to style your brows. For an easy slick of colour, use a brow gel or mascara and follow Hannah’s “three Ts” technique – tail, tease and tame.
“Firstly apply colour to the tail, which is where most people have the least amount of hair,” explains Hannah. “The second step is to tease. Sweep the hairs back and forth from the tail end, then tame them all into place.
“To add definition, use a pencil or powder for a natural look. Or go for a gel or pomade for something more glamorous.”

Tinting
Dyeing your brows works to hide sparse patches, build fullness and define shape. “If your brows are naturally light, they can wash you out,” tells Hannah. “A deeper colour will add definition and help to frame your face.”
But be careful not to go too deep. “Keep your brows natural by picking a tint two or three shades deeper than your hair colour.” Follow the packet instructions and if you’re not sure, go lighter.
“The tint should last around two weeks,” explains Hannah. “If you have thick brows, they’ll hold onto the tint for longer.”
