Radiance boosters
Give gorgeous ivory skin a boost with lashings of luminising fluid. Rather than bronzing, these reflect the light, making you look more rested and radiant. Use them on top of your usual moisturiser or mix them with your foundation.
Illuminating/bronzing fluids
With a hint of gold and a suggestion of shimmer, illuminators can be used underneath or in place of foundation, or to highlight cheekbones.
Tinted moisturisers
On hot summer days, foundation can sometimes look too heavy and overdone. Thankfully, many tinted moisturisers offer good, enduring coverage as well as skincare benefits.
Tinted gels
If you’re looking for a wash-off tan, tinted gels are your friend. Suitable for all skin types, they’re completely foolproof, free from tanning agents, and devoid of that distinctive fake-tan smell.
Facial tanners
If you want a more lasting tan, fake it gradually with a subtle product designed especially for the face. For even results it’s best to use something tinted so you can see where you’ve already applied it.
Bronzing powder
A quick brush of bronzer is the fastest way I know to get a glow. There are loads out there but my advice is to avoid anything too terracotta or orange and go for a golden, pinky shimmer instead.
Glow tips
Avoid the eyebrows and the hairline when using tinted gels and tanners.
Use vertical and horizontal strokes when applying and wait 10 minutes for it to dry before applying makeup.
Don’t forget to wash hands well with hot soapy water after applying.
A bronzed glowing face paired with a pearly white décolletage isn’t a great look, so don’t forget to apply a little product to any exposed skin – just be careful to avoid contact with clothes.
Unlike foundations, you’re not looking to match your skin colour. However, only go a couple of shades darker, because any more will look fake.
Keep makeup light. A peachy or coral lip gloss and golden brown or nude eyeshadow is perfect paired with bronzed skin.
