Great looking eyes

I’d like to claim I’ve never fallen into bed with my makeup on and woken up with mascara just about down to my chin – but I’d be lying, and I have the pillowcases to prove it! From wrinkles, to puffiness and dark circles, there are heaps of reasons why it’s far wiser to treat the area around your eyes with tender loving care.

Eye trouble The skin around the eyes is thinner than on other parts of the face and has no oil glands so it’s extra-prone to fine lines and wrinkles as well as puffiness. Dark circles can also be a problem for lots of people. And no, they’re not caused by stress or too many late nights but by micro-leaks from the tiny blood vessels beneath the eyes that show up as discolouration simply because the skin is so much thinner there.

Dark circles are often an inherited trait and stuff like your bone structure and skin tone can make the problem seem worse. Rubbing the skin doesn’t help either, which is why sufferers of hayfever and allergies tend to develop dark circles. The stronger and healthier the skin around the eyes, the better it will look.

**There are loads of options for gently and effectively removing eye makeup and it only takes a few seconds.

**2. Soothe

**Sticking a couple of slices of cucumber over your eyes really does help soothe the area.

**4. Conceal and correct

**Choose a concealer that’s specifically designed for the eye area, rather than using one that’s formulated for blemishes or areas of redness. For beneath the eyes, you want a colour that’s a peach/yellow-toned shade that is lighter than your foundation. Apply from the innermost corner of the eye and gently blend by pressing the concealer into the skin – never rub or drag your finger across the skin. To help it last longer, you can set the concealer with a light dusting of sheer, loose powder.
