Gorgeous makeup looks for mums of all ages

Mother’s Day is treat time and I reckon it’s all the excuse you need to get a bit glammed-up and spoil yourself with a swanky lunch or a big night out. It could be with your girlfriends, your man or your kids but you deserve time off from shopping, cooking and cleaning, don’t you? And whether you’re a younger or an older mum, here are some makeup ideas to help you get ready.

Younger mums

When you’re busy with the juggle of being a mum, it’s easy to get stuck in a beauty rut. But your twenties and thirties are a time when you should be having fun with bolder, sexier makeup. You can be daring with your colour palette, shimmer and metallics. So smoke up your eyes, shine those lips and take some risks with sizzling pinks, hot reds or cute corals.

older mums

You may want to soften your colour palette a wee bit as you get older but that doesn’t mean makeup has to be boring. Some produc ts you may have neglected in the past will become essential – like blusher, for example, which is an instant face brightener and gives back the glow you had naturally a few years ago. Lips may thin and fade as the years pass, but you can still go bright with lippy if you choose the right formulas. And don’t shy away from subtle shimmer on the cheeks or eyes – a warm gold is especially flattering!

Hot tip 1!

For more impact, choose eyeshadow shades that contrast with the colour of your eyes. For ex ample, if you have warm brown eyes, go for cool colours like mauve, plum, blue and grey.

Hot tip 2!

Don’t stick with the same makeup season af ter season. Make the latest trends work for you with new eyeshadow shades or try a lippy that’s outside your comfort zone.
