Expert guide: covering a cold

When you have a cold, there is usually redness and dryness around the nose, and the under-eye area can look extra-tired.

STEP ONE

Use a skin illuminator to brighten the darkness under the eye. Make sure the formulation is light and oil free, as both will ‘drag’ the delicate skin around the eye area.

STEP TWO

Apply a skin-tone correcting concealer to lighten the under eye area. You’ll instantly look less tired. Using eyelash curlers, give the lashes a good curl and apply mascara – this will instantly open up the eyes. Lastly, line the bottom of the eye rim with white eyeliner

STEP THREE

Apply a hydrating face cream, as your skin can be dehydrated when you have a cold. Apply foundation around the nose, and make sure to get right into the corners. If you’re using a sponge, make sure to clean before and after use to prevent the spread of germs. If the skin around the nose is dry and flaky, you can press a face oil or balm on top of the foundation to help give the area more hydrated finish.

STEP FOUR

Finish the look with a spritz of facial mist to keep your skin looking hydrated and luminous.
