Christian Louboutin’s famous red soles have adorned the feet of many a Hollywood star, from Nicole Kidman to Anne Hathaway.
Now, the popular designer is branching out into the beauty world for the first time with a range of fashion-forward nail polish.
The bottle design brings to mind the famous Louboutin stiletto, with a razor-sharp brush handle tapering off into a spiky point. Appropriately, the first colour in the collection is called ‘Rouge Louboutin’ and is described as a “timeless, vibrant red”.
Launching a nail polish collection makes perfect sense for the designer. As the story goes, Christian borrowed a bottle of enamel from an assistant and literally painted on the first red soles in his third footwear collection, back in 1992.
While the polish is certainly more affordable than a pair of Louboutin shoes, it’s not the most wallet-friendly of nail lacquers – just one bottle will set you back a cool US $50.
A total of 30 shades are planned for the collection, which will debut from August in the US. There’s no word on when it will reach New Zealand, but you can bet Louboutin fans will be keeping an eye on this luxurious launch.
