The Emma Watson
The look: A short pixie crop. Natasha says this style is very much on trend and best suits an oval face. It also works well on women with grey hair. It does need to be cut often to maintain its shape – every four to five weeks. And if you have very curly hair then this shape will need lots of product.
To style: This looks fantastic slicked down with a pomade or gel or for a textured finish use a paste to loosen it up.
The Kirsten Dunst
The look: A bob with a swept aside fringe. Natasha says this is a very wearable style that suits any face shape and works especially well if you have fine hair. It would suit an easy-care woman who wants more body and movement in their hair. It can be worn a little shorter than Kirsten has it, and shouldn’t go beneath the shoulders.
To style: Apply a root-lift product and blow-dry with a medium round brush.
The Kate Middleton
The look: Long layers with a sweeping long fringe. Natasha says this style would suit most face shapes. While it’s easy to maintain and only needs to be trimmed every eight weeks, it’s not so good for those with fine hair. This style would work with any length below the shoulders.
To Style: Apply heat protecting product and blow-dry with a big round brush. You could get a smoother look by using rollers. Finish with a spray that offers shine and hold.
How to get a new haircut
There used to be a rule that once you were past 30 you shouldn’t wear hair longer.
But rules like that are made to be broken! When it comes to choosing a style, there are three things to consider – your hair type, your face shape and your lifestyle.
Show your stylist pictures of the style you love but accept it might have to be modified to suit you and your hair type.
Make sure your stylist has an idea of your usual fashion look and your lifestyle as this might affect how suitable your new style is. A really good tip is to dress the way you usually would when you visit the salon – for example, don’t dress down in jeans if you want a cut that’s going to match your work image.
Ask your stylist for product advice and tips on how to get the look right at home. Lots of hair salons offer blow-dry lessons and they should be able to show you how to use tongs, rollers and straighteners.
If you get your dream cut, photograph it from the front, sides and back so that you can remind your stylist of how it’s meant to look at your next appointment.
