Save on shampoo
Many of us have coloured hair or regularly heat our locks, so it’s important to use products specific to those needs. To cut down on how much shampoo and conditioner you use, try to only wash every second or third day and use a small spritz of dry shampoo to soak up oiliness at the roots. Bonus: Your colour will last longer with fewer washes!
Show your mascara some TLC
Even when we’re watching our wallets, mascara remains most women’s one make-up staple. The good news is some of the best mascaras on the market are also the cheapest. The key is to look after yours so it lasts longer. Find that it seems to dry out quickly? Try to avoid pumping the wand in and out too much – it puts air in the tube and overloads the brush, so you’re more likely to get clumpy lashes and mascara that needs replacing often.
Choose a multi tasking lippy
A sheer wash of colour across your cheeks and lips is a winning formula when it comes to looking well put together in a rush. Save cash by picking a lipstick shade that you can wear on your lips, cheeks and eyelids. Go for a pale pink or peach hue. Apply to your finger and dab on so you have more control.
Don’t skimp on skincare
Skincare is a top priority – looking after and nourishing your skin now will save money (and heartache!) in the future. It also makes make-up sit better and look much more polished. Don’t worry about buying expensive cleansers and moisturisers if you’re on a budget – save up for a good serum to address specific concerns instead. Supermarket brands used as part of a morning and night regime will do an excellent job.
