We see it often in the movies: men lamenting just how much space women take up in the bathroom cabinet. But these days there’s likely to be just as many potions and lotions belonging to your other half hogging that much sought-after space.
The solution? Unisex products. And before you screw up your face thinking it’ll never work, there are a whole host of products flooding the market in unisex packaging that are good for both genders. Because let’s be honest, men should be looking after their hair and skin just as much as we do.

Cleansing and toning
Finding a cleansing and toning range that suits both men and women can be tough – particularly when it comes to packaging, which is why we love the Dermalogica range. We love: Dermologica Daily Microfoliant, $96; Toner, $63; and Special Cleansing Gel, $62.

Fragrance
Some of the best fragrances right now are designed to hit the right note for both sexes. Comme des Garçons is well known for creating captivating unisex scents and Serpentine is no different. Think a tender but fresh fragrance with a hint of leaves, asphalt and smoked cedar. We love: CDG Serpentine, $139.

Hair product
Easy Rider is perfect both for thickening fine hair and softening thick hair. And of course it also works to tame that frizz. So it’s a win-win all round. We love: Kevin Murphy’s Easy Rider Anti Frizz Creme, $48.

Shaving gel
Even though men need it for their face and women need it for their underarms and legs, this one can easily be shared. This gel helps give a smooth shave and alleviate post-shave dryness and irritation. We love: Ren Tamanu High Glide Shaving Gel, $43.

Body wash
Not a fan of foam? Don’t worry, the oils are taking over! This product has sunflower seed, jojoba and coconut oil that give skin a silky smoothness. Added to that, the scent isn’t overpowering, leaving you subtly fragranced all over. Think a zesty Caribbean breeze. A little goes a long way. We love: Jo Malone Lime, Basil and Mandarin Shower Oil, $90.

Face brush
Just like with your electric toothbrush, you can share a face brush base but each have your own brush head. This black Clinique Sonic Purifying Cleansing Brush is the latest on the market and masculine enough for any guy to pick it up – after all, guys love their tools right? We love: Clinique for Men Sonic System Deep Cleansing Brush, $165; and Brush Head Refill, $31.

Ingrown hair cream
This dream cream helps to address both ingrown hairs and razor bumps. Glycolic and salicylic acid are used to exfoliate, vitamin B5 helps to promote skin repair while chamomile will calm and soothe. We love: Malin + Goetz Ingrown Hair Cream, $34.

Deodorant
Gender-neutral deodorants are the perfect way to keep you both smelling fresh and out of armpit-fragrance-overdose territory. We love: Dove Original Aerosol Anti-Perspirant, $3.79.
