Defy dehydration and Dullness

Dehydration can make wrinkles and lines look deeper than they actually are. Use a weekly face mask for a moisture hit and a hydrating mist when you’re at work to combat air conditioning.

Try: MAC Charged Water Skin Hydrating Mist, $45; Evolu Rehydration Rescue Masque, $55; Osmosis Immerse Moisture Booster, $128; and Shiseido White Lucent Power Brightening Mask, $115.

Treat your neck

Oops! It’s often not till you notice those ‘necklace’ lines that you realise your neck needs moisturising too. You don’t have to use a specific product, you can just start with using your face moisturiser. But step up to a neck cream when you want to target sagging, redness and discolouration.

Try: PCA Perfecting Neck and Décolleté, $110; and Prevage Anti-aging Neck and Décolleté Firm and Repair Cream, $169.

Tighten slack skin

Extra skin around your jawline has a habit of looking like it’s being dragged down. Try a lifting and sculpting cream to keep the skin taut. For best results, massage it in using upwards strokes.

Try: Shiseido Vital Perfection Sculpting Lift Cream, $329; and Kiehl’s Precision Lifting & Pore Tightening Concentrate, $128.

Soften smile and frown lines

Some of the most noticeable lines are on your forehead, and while you’ll never totally get rid of them you can use serums to target the area and soften their effect.

Try: Dr Brandt Needles No More Expression Line Smoother, $142; Perricone MD Deep Crease Serum, $252; Murad Intensive Wrinkle Reducer, $282; and Kate Somerville HydraKate Line Release Face Serum, $235.

Brighten tired eyes

If anything gives away your age, it’s bags under your eyes. Ideally you want that area to look bright and refreshed, and luckily there are a whole host of products to help. It may seem like an annoying extra step in your regime but keeping your eyes bright will make a big difference.

Try: Bioelements Quick Refiner for Eyes, $99; Société Lift and Fill & Firm and Brighten dual pack, $219; Lancôme Génifique Yeux Light Pearl Eye Illuminator, $120; Kiehl’s Powerful Strength Line Reducing Eye-Brightening Concentrate, $94; and Talika Eye Therapy Patch, $104.
